Molten Copper The Chuquicamata copper mine in northern Chile is the largest in the world. In this image, the Chileans are doing something with their molten copper - though your guess is as good as mine what that may be.
Chilean Woman Whose Car Broke Down The owners of the car that broke down in the Atacama were this woman and her husband. As we waited for help in a cafe, she allowed me to take her picture. I later ran into this couple by chance on assignment in northern Chile weeks later.
Tongoy at Sunset Like many towns along Chile's 3,000 mile coast, Tongoy is a fishing village offering very fresh seafood. On the way to dinner, I shot this sunset image of Tongoy from a bridge.
Patagonian Penguins In the southern portions of Chile and Argentina, penguins and puffins and other interesting creatures can be seen. These penguins are protected on a government-run penguin preserve.
